Below we present to you our wonderful Summer and Fall Staff. At Expose Performing Arts we believe in networking and building long-lasting connections between our studio and others. During our Summer Session, we bring in guests that will teach unique styles and fun combinations to expand our students' growth and versatility. During the fall our resident instructors will take charge of leading the instruction of our classes and team.




Inspiring, Passionate, Dedicated

A seasoned and passionate elite choreographer and teacher in the industry. With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Bonilla is an SDA and IDA award-winning choreographer. With a wide background on the performing arts and dance competition world he's had the opportunity to work with artists, choreograph for movies, the Miss Virginia Pageant, Miss Puerto Rico Universe and dance competition teams. His famous "Harry Potter" in Juventud Vibra 2013 awarded him the opportunity to choreograph multiple shows overseas in Barcelona, Spain as well as recent work in Canada, New York, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Through his hard work and dedication, he is the proud recipient of multiple choreography awards in both Puerto Rico and the United States. Through a combination of talents, John has developed his own Costume Design line "Royalty Costumes by John Bonilla", as well as a music editing style that is unique to his vision. He presently serves as an Adjudicator for StarQuest and StarPower Dance Competitions.

Mr. Bonilla has dedicated himself to charitable causes, educating and helping children as a spokesperson in campaigns against drug usage and overcoming abuse. As the owner of Expose Performing Arts, he leads by example through his craft and as a caring father. His ultimate goal is "to train the body, mind, soul and stimulate the performing abilities of dancers so they will have a full balance between artistry and technique."



Analytical, Graceful, Flawless

With 10 years of experience as a dance instructor and 15 years as a performer, Mr. Ortiz was Trained in Puerto Rico in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, flamenco and modern. He specialized in ballet starting his professional career at the age of 16. Moving rapidly through the ranks, he became a soloist for Ballet Brio by 2010 and later on a Principal Soloist for Ballet de San Juan de Puerto Rico in 2011, before moving to the states in 2013 to work for Todd Rosenlieb Dance, Virginia Ballet Theater and the Governor School for the Arts and the Academy of Dance. He has performed leading and supporting roles in Sleeping Beaty, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Balanchine's Tarantella, Raymonda, Lady Godiva, Don Quixote, The Tempest, Amor Brujo, Nostalgia, El Arte de Morir among the most recognized of his career. He has been awarded multiple honors for his unique, artistic and refreshing view in choreography. Since moving to Miami, Mr. Ortiz had the opportunity to teach multiple master classes across the US, expand his work as Graphic designer and Illustrator and join the panel of Judges at StarQuest Dance Competitions. He presently is co-owner and director of the Ballet Program at Expose Performing Arts.




Meticulous, Attentive, Technical

Originally from Newport News, VA, Katie has been training and studying dance for over 20 years. She began her training with the Academy of Dance as a part of their award-winning competition team, achieving the highest level of the company by the age of 12. In 2013, she graduated from Woodside High School as a part of their dance magnet program. During her years at Woodside, she performed lead roles in many ballet productions including Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Cinderella, Peter and the Wolf, and others.  Upon graduation, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University to study Dance Performance and Choreography.  She has been fortunate to have the worked with well-known and established teachers and choreographers during her time at VCU.  She later became an instructor for the Academy of Dance, working with various dance disciplines to include ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary.  Miss Katie holds an Associate of Science degree and is currently focusing on her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. She works to find solutions to physical limitations directly correlated with dance injury, and will be able to work with the dancers directly on proper injury prevention and rehabilitation. She now proudly joins the staff at Expose Performing Arts as a teacher, dancer, and choreographer, and hopes to be fount of inspiration and knowledge to the students she teaches.



Creative, Determined, Unique

Originally from Smithfield, VA and began dancing at the age of 3 at the Academy of Dance and Gymnastics in Hampton, VA. She continued her training with the Academy as a member of their competitive team until 2015 when she graduated from Smithfield High School. She attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and graduated in 2019 with a BA in Dance and Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration in Marketing. During her time at the University, Ms. Cardenas had the amazing opportunity to choreograph and present her works. She was the recipient of a Full Scholarship to the tap program of the Joffrey Ballet School in Miami, FL. After a rigorous selection process by the UA Department of Dance faculty, her work was selected to be part of Dance Alabama and Dance Collection. She performed as a company member in Alabama Repertory Dance Theater. She became a Dance Ambassador for the Department of Dance at the University of Alabama and has now set her eyes on a new path for herself after her graduation and achievements. She is very excited to join the faculty at Expose Performing arts to teach, choreograph, and perform for the 2020-2021 season.

Nurturing, Expressive, Artistic

Entering the world of dance at the age of 3 in her Westcoast home state of Washington, Nina quickly fell in love with dance and performing onstage which encouraged her to grow in various styles of dance being Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, and Musical Theater.  At age 6 she became part of a Regional and National Award Winning Major Motion Dance Ensemble competition team at The Dance Gallery. Her team competed in many competitions such as NYCDA, Tremaine, Co. Dance, Celebrity, and Hollywood Vibe along with dance conventions such as Manhattan Dance Project. The succession of her team allowed her to gain tremendous experiences learning from world renowned choreographers, winning 2nd in the nation in 2002 at Co. Dance Nationals in Florida, the opportunity  to be 1 of 10 U.S dance teams selected to perform in the 2004 European Tanzsommer Performing Arts Festival in Austria, Germany, and Italy, and performing on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas in 2006 throughout Jamaica, Cayman Islands, and Mexico. As a soloist she won many Overall High Scores, various Specialty and Judges Awards for her showmanship and expressive performances, several Agency Awards, Scholarship Awards, and invitations to the Choreographers Ball in L.A. After graduating High school in 2007, Nina had the ability and experience of making it through 4 rounds of " So You Think You Can Dance" auditions, as well as, auditioning for the role of Tinkerbell in Disneyland. Later she continued her dedication of dance by moving from a Teaching Assistant, which she began at age 13, into a Dance Instructor within the studio she grew up in and further expanding her Instructional career as a Gymnastics Coach at the competitive level gym NASA Gymnastics where she coached for 4 years. In 2010, Nina got married and began creating a family of her own. Once becoming a mother of 3 her passion and dedication for teaching, mentoring, and impacting kids only grew stronger. After moving to the state of Virginia she returned to her love of coaching gymnastics and teaching dance at the Award Winning studio Academy of Dance and Gymnastics. Nina is thrilled to become part of the Exposed Performing Arts Staff where she looks forward to helping her students set and achieve goals, encourages them to chase their dreams, motivates them to share their creativity with the world, and give them a place where they can fully express themselves through the art of dance. She is honored for the opportunity  to share her talent, experience, knowledge, and passion with her students and is excited to help them grow and blossom in every way possible.



Empathetic, Goal-Oriented, Meticulous

Originally from Yorktown, VA, she began her studies at a young age and has an extensive background in theater and dance. She has been training in dance for 20 years in the fields of ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap and hip-hop. She began her training on the competition team at The Academy of Dance and Gymnastics, where she reached the highest level of the company before graduating. She has been seen in the Dance Spirit Magazine and has won first place at many competitions as a soloist, including Nationals in 2014. After graduating from York High School Ms. Evans continued her dance career at East Carolina University. As a graduate of ECU, with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, Bridget fulfilled many opportunities to choreograph for the college, and performed in many theaters and main stage shows. In 2017 she was selected to attend the Rockettes Summer Intensive and after graduating from ECU, she has worked at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg as dancer their summer productions, OktoberZest. She continues to work hard, and share her immense passion for dance and loves watching her students grow as young dancers as they achieve their goals. She is honored to be teaching, choreographing, and performing at Expose Performing Arts in VA.
